When it comes to the King Khan of Bollywood, who does not await his films? Some of Shahrukh Khan’s films have touched the 100 crore club and with every upcoming movie, it is expected that the film will touch that landmark.
The most recent of Shahrukh Khan’s movie “Raees” also has a similar story. The picture was released on January 25, 2017 and started with an excellent business. Till its tenth day of release, the movie has already collected a whooping 122.36 crore within India. The movie is also doing some great business overseas. In fact, Raees is the first Bollywood move ever to collect 226,000 USD on its weekend in Singapore.
Shahrukh Khan seems to be over the moon due to mostly positive reviews as well as feedback from various film critics. Not only is this, but the audience at large is also loving the film. The movie was initially screened at 2700 screens but the number of screens was reduced last Friday.
In addition to the domestic market, the film has also collected 245.56 crore INR overseas. The film was a medium budget picture, made with the total budget of 85 crores. This means that the film has already started bringing in some good profit for the exhibitors as well as the distributors.
This is also to be kept in mind that though some of Shahrukh’s movies have reached 100 crores, none of his movie ever has reached the 300 crore club, unlike Salman Khan and Aamir Khan. Only two Shahrukh Khan starrer movies “Cheenai Express” and “Happy New Year” were able to touch 200 crores club.
It will be very interesting to see now if Raees is able to touch the 200 crores club or will it just miss out by a small margin or so. Only time will tell what will happen exactly but Shahrukh Khan and the film makers will definitely keep their fingers crossed.
